Steve’s Story: Learning to Move, Growing with Strength

Youth Development | TruAgility + TruSlide in Action

Finding Confidence Through Movement

When Shawn first met Steve Scmeca, Steve was just fifteen — full of energy, determination, and curiosity.

Born prematurely at under two pounds and living with cerebral palsy, Steve’s physical and cognitive development had always been a challenge. But that never stopped him from showing up and giving his all.

Movement as Motivation

Over the years, Steve has become an inspiration — not only in the gym, but also in the development of TruAbility’s adaptive tools.

He’s tested every TruSlide™ and TruAgility™ prototype, helping shape how each product supports balance, coordination, and confidence for users of all abilities.

“I love seeing Steve jump, shuffle side to side, and learn new movements,” says Shawn. “He still gets frustrated sometimes, but he’s matured so much — and I’m extremely proud of him.”

Strength, Patience, and Progress

Steve’s story reminds us that movement isn’t about perfection — it’s about persistence.

Each session is a step forward, a chance to grow stronger and more confident in his own ability to move.
